The "Wake Up to Your Life" Buddhist Meditation Group of Columbus
Welcome to the "Wake Up to Your Life" Group
of Columbus, Ohio
The "Wake up to your
Life” (or WUTYL, pronounced woo til) group of Columbus,
Ohio is a small, nonsectarian Buddhist group that meets
twice weekly to
meditate
and to
study the Buddhist
teachings of Ken
McLeod, Stephen Batchelor, and others.
We seek to learn how to apply practical Buddhist tools to our
daily lives so that we may become increasingly open to the mystery
of the
present moment. Though we view regular meditation practice as
one key element to becoming more fully awake and alive, we seek
to develop a type of practice that we can recall throughout the
day, whether on or off the cushion. We don't just try to fit a meditation
practice into our lives. We try to bring our lives into our practice.
There are two main components to our group. The “Cultivating Attention” group meets every Saturday afternoon to help provide meditation instruction, an opportunity to meditate in a group environment, and support to those still relatively new to meditation practice. The “Practice" group meets every Thursday evening. It focuses on topics of interest to group members, including specific contemplative meditations from Ken McLeod’s book, “Wake up to your Life: Discovering the Buddhist Path of Attention.”
Currently, the "Practice" group meets at
the Buddhist
Center of Ohio (1005 W. King Ave.) and the "Cultivating
Attention" group meets at the Shambhala
Meditation Group of Columbus (4495 Indianola
Ave.)
in
Clintonville.
